Our Story

Welcome to the Barlow Blues Boutique. We are a family-owned business located in the Northwest corner of New Mexico. Our family has called the Southwest home for several generations. All of us, in some way or another, have been involved in agriculture and the western lifestyle we love so much.

We started Barlow Blues by participating in local vendor fairs and having a booth in a local co-op. During the early days we focused on creating our own products (and quite a variety). We enjoyed doing it all, however, in 2020 we decided to start our online business and focus on western fashion and women’s apparel. In the summer of 2022, Barlow Blues opened a retail space!

While we drew inspiration from our whole family, we’d like to introduce you to Julie and Katie, the mother-daughter team behind Barlow Blues.

Julie:

I have a lifelong love of the western lifestyle and fashion. My appreciation for quality clothing comes from my mom and grandma who were terrific seamstresses. I learned to sew and craft at a young age and love to “build” things. My focus has evolved into building a boutique that focuses on western and southwestern inspired clothing, jewelry and accessories. I have always wanted a retail store and am looking forward to creating original designs with my family. I love to shop, so shopping and selecting merchandise that I hope our customers will love is a blast! I devote every spare minute - outside of my other job - to Barlow Blues.

Katie:

I grew up showing and riding horses. That love of horses led me to WTAMU where I was on the Equestrian show team and received a BS in Equine Business. That horse crazy girl has come a long way from the days of only wanting to wear jeans and a t-shirt (although still my comfort outfit, I style and accessorize now). My style has changed through the years but has always been rooted in western inspiration. I enjoy mixing my western looks with preppy and classic flares and appreciate how a great outfit can inspire and evoke confidence. My goal with Barlow Blues is to help others find quality and stylish clothes they love to wear and feel great in.
